McOsker on Regency Lawsuit Over Gaffey Billboard

Posted on 02/15/2023

The City of Los Angeles served Regency Outdoor Advertising today with an Unlawful Detainer lawsuit for failing to take down the billboard and vacate the property on 427 N. Gaffey Street in San Pedro.

“It has been a month and a half since Regency’s contract ended and they are legally obligated to remove their billboard and vacate the premises,” said Los Angeles City Councilmember Tim McOsker. “Their contract is over and they need to go.”

“Yet despite this, they continue to ignore and ‘troll’ the city of Los Angeles and the community who wants the billboard gone. The final straw should have been when they ignored our requests for them to leave the property at the end of their lease, but this week’s advertisement saying ‘Your LOGO would look great here’ was a blatant disregard and affront to the people of San Pedro.”

“Regency’s disregard for the will of the community made today’s service of the eviction complaint a necessary step. Big businesses have no right to squat in our local communities.”
