Councilmember McOsker on Surge of ICE Raids in the Harbor

Posted on 10/14/2025
“Since the start of the month, immigration enforcement agents have been sowing fear in the Harbor area. Two Saturdays ago, on October 4th, they targeted workers at a car wash in San Pedro. This past Wednesday, at least ten people we know of were taken, including a tamale vendor and day laborers at Home Depot. And today, in Wilmington, more raids took place. People were taken from Superior Grocers, a recycling center, a fruit vendor stand, from Hojas Tea House, and other locations. We have experienced sporadic raids throughout the past few months, but the intensity and frequency have grown exponentially over the last week and a half in our district,” said Councilmember Tim McOsker.

“The videos and images of these arrests are painful to watch, but do not look away. We must continue to be witnesses, record, stand up and speak out against these unwarranted, unconstitutional operations.

The people who have been taken are not strangers. They are a part of our daily lives. They are our neighbors.

To everyone who has the ability to help, now is the time.
