Councilmember McOsker on State of the City Address

Posted on 04/15/2024

“The reality is that there will be hard fiscal times ahead for the city of Los Angeles. One way, among many, for us to respond to the financial challenge is to eliminate funding from current vacant positions; however, it troubles me that residents may feel the impact in a lowered level of important municipal services," said Councilmember Tim McOsker. "Even as we control spending this coming fiscal year, I know that the Mayor and I are aligned in our priorities of making sure that city employees are paid a livable, dignified wage so that they can afford to live in this city. In the next few years, recruitment will be a high priority for us as city leaders, but we must also retain the excellent, trained city workforce that we have. I look forward to receiving the Mayor’s proposed budget and further analysis in the upcoming Budget Committee hearings over the next month.”
